just to prove my fellow Amanda right..i just had to write a blog entry here on my special day! and yes, i’m 23!!
It was a nice and quiet day, which began with a visit to the dentist with my friend. she had a sore tooth and i just wanted to get a checkup coz i hadn’t been to a dentist for like 4 years…and we expected it to take the whole morning, but it turned out to be really quick. and the dentist said my teeth are all good!! yay..so i can enjoy myself for the rest of the day with lots of cake and goodies…oh, forgot i can’t eat that stuff coz of my allergy diet! ah wells.
the rest of the day was kinda plain, except for facebook messages popping up all the time..and thank you to everyone who remembered:) it’s funny how we have birthdays every year and it slowly loses its ‘excitement’ but i’m always touched when someone bothers to send something my way, even if it’s just as expected as ‘happy birthday amanda’. haha i will slowly reply you all and send u a special message of my own.
then it was dinner time and i ended up having a nice vietnamese meal with my good ol’ sis. Don’t know if it’ll be the last time we’ll be in the same place (for a while at least) on my birthday, so we kinda got a bit excited and took all these photos of just us and the food. haha it was a scrumptious meal, cept we were so full afterwards..so full that we ended up skipping dessert!! but though we didn’t have room for dessert, i remembered my lovely housemates at home..so i got them all a bit of cheesecake from the bakery. It’s always nice to learn to give instead of just receiving everyone’s gifts and encouragements.
i got home and was surprised with my housemates coming in one by one with their gifts and smiles…and more facebook messages! and now coming to an end to my birthday…i’m sitting in front of the computer typing up this blog:)
so that’s what i DID on my birthday day..but like each morning of my birthday i do a little bit of thinking and reflecting on the past year and see what God wants me to learn in the new year. this year’s bible passage was:
Isaiah 37:30 "Then this shall be the sign for you: you shall eat this year what grows of itself, in the second year what springs from the same, and in the third year sow, reap, plant vineyards, and eat their fruit. 31 "And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward. 32 "For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of Mount Zion survivors. The zeal of the LORD of hosts shall perform this."
this year is going to be a year of preparation and equipping myself for the work ahead… and as all my classmates wrote on my birthday card, i will learn to be strong and courageous, learning to tune into God’s will in this generation.
